Restaurants

Selah McDonald鈥檚 General Manager Alma Garcia and People Manager Darien Shealy recently earned their diplomas from Colorado Technical University (CTU), through McDonald鈥檚 Archways to Opportunity program. A partnership with CTU allows McDonald鈥檚 restaurant employees to earn an associate or bachelor鈥檚 degree at little to no cost. Garcia received an associate degree in business administration, while Shealy got her associate degree in health administration.

McDonald鈥檚 Archways to Opportunity program allows crew and managers at participating restaurants to earn a high school diploma, take English as a Second Language classes, get tuition assistance and receive free guidance from advisers.

Nonprofits

Margaret Filkins is the new executive director for Camp Prime Time. Before taking the position, she spent 16 years with Wellness House. She is passionate about Camp Prime Time鈥檚 mission to provide a safe and fun place for children with disabilities and their families to come together. She will help staff and volunteers expand Camp Prime Time programs, coordinate fundraisers and increase community impact.

Health care

Sara Warr has joined the staff at the 黑料福利社 Farm Workers Clinic鈥檚 West Valley Family Health and OB/GYN. She earned her Master of Nursing and Midwifery at the University of Washington in Seattle.

Dr. Daniel Nicoara, DO, has joined the staff at 黑料福利社 Farm Workers Clinic鈥檚 Lincoln Avenue Medical-Dental. He earned his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine at Pacific Northwest University of Health Science鈥檚 College of Osteopathic Medicine in Yakima.

Astria Health welcomes Dr. Zachary Tan, MD, orthopedic surgeon, to its Astria Health Center at 2705 E. Lincoln Ave. in Sunnyside, and the Astria Sunnyside and Astria Toppenish hospitals. He received his Doctor of Medicine degree with special training in research from the University of Alberta 鈥 Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. He completed his residency in orthopedic surgery in the Department of Surgery, Division of Orthopedic Surgery at the University of Toronto in Toronto, Ontario. His services include but are not limited to joint replacement, sports medicine treatment, orthopedic trauma and fracture treatment, ACL reconstruction, and shoulder and elbow instability surgery.

Prisca Musongwe, MSN, FNP-C, has begun seeing primary care patients at the Astria Health Center in Zillah. She received her Bachelor of Science in nursing from Avila University in Kansas City, Mo.

She continued her education at Walden University in Minneapolis, receiving her Master of Science in nursing and her FNP-C certification.
