A Kittitas County sheriff鈥檚 deputy was arrested on felony firearms charges and lodged in the Yakima County jail after an altercation at the Brick Tavern in Roslyn early Sunday morning.
Deputy Nicholas Ronald Burson got into what Sheriff Clay Myers described in a news release as a 鈥渧erbal dispute鈥 with patrons and employees at the tavern that apparently escalated.
No shots were fired and no one was injured, according to the sheriff鈥檚 release. However, Burson was armed during the incident, leading to the charges.
Burson left the bar before police were called, but voluntarily surrendered at his home, according to Myers. The sheriff said in his news release that the Washington State Patrol is conducting the investigation for the sake of 鈥渢ransparency and fairness.鈥
Meantime, Burson has booked into the Yakima County jail shortly before 11 a.m. Sunday and has been placed on administrative leave.
鈥淧ublic safety is and always will be the Sheriff鈥檚 Office鈥檚 priority,鈥 Myers wrote in his statement. 鈥淭hese are serious allegations and this office will respond in a manner that protects public trust, respects and supports the criminal justice process, and upholds the standards of the Office of Sheriff.鈥
