Javier Trujillo

Javier Trujillo appears at his plea hearing in Yakima County Superior Court Tuesday, May 19, 2026. Trujillo pleaded guilty to assaulting and raping a woman he knew in 2025.

A Toppenish man will be sentenced June 16 on charges that he kidnapped, beat with a prybar and raped a woman he knew.

Javier Trujillo, 29, entered guilty pleas to charges of second-degree kidnapping, third-degree rape and two counts each of felony violation of a court order and second-degree assault during a hearing in Yakima County Superior Court May 19.

In return for the plea, prosecutors dropped charges of first-degree kidnapping, second-degree rape and recommended six years in prison followed by registration as a sex offender for 10 years. Six years is the low end of the standard sentencing range of six to eight years on the kidnapping charge.

Trujillo was out on bail while awaiting trial on prior charges of felony violation of a protection order, second-degree assault and second-degree unlawful possession of a firearm on June 9, 2025, when a woman told a police officer in King County that Trujillo had raped her earlier in a trailer west of Wapato, according to a probable cause affidavit filed by the Yakima County Sheriff鈥檚 Office.

She said that Trujillo had given her an illicit drug that made her heart race, the affidavit said. She was able to get away from him several days later when, she said, he made her drive him to a drug dealer鈥檚 house and she drove off when he got out of the vehicle.

Sheriff鈥檚 deputies met with her on Aug. 27 at the Toppenish Police Department, where she told them Trujillo assaulted her days earlier in Toppenish, a second affidavit said.

Trujillo punched her twice in the nose, and told her he should have killed her, the affidavit said.

Around 12:30 a.m. Aug. 24, she was at a Winaway Road home with Trujillo, and when he got out of the vehicle she tried to drive off. Trujillo stood in front of the vehicle blocking her, then climbed on the hood of the vehicle as she drove and got in the vehicle through a rear window, the affidavit said.

Inside the vehicle, Trujillo hit her in the back of her head with his fists five or six times, the affidavit said and pulled her out by her hair. Arming himself with a prybar, Trujillo hit her in the back with the tool and tried to hit her in the head but she blocked the blow with her left hand, breaking her little finger. A聽vertebrae in her lower back also was broken in the attack, the affidavit said.

Trujillo forced her to get back in the vehicle and he drove her around to various places for hours while she begged him to take her to the hospital. He finally took her to Astria Toppenish Hospital, the affidavit said, where she was treated for her injuries.
