The state has recognized eight Yakima County school districts for progress in key areas of student success during the 2024-25 school year.聽
Out of 150 districts, Grandview, Granger, Mt. Adams, Naches, Sunnyside, Wapato, West Valley and Yakima were included on the list for closing gaps, student achievement, or student growth.聽
Fifteen schools within Yakima County districts were recognized for their progress toward student success. The Yakima School District led the charge with five schools within its district. Only 16% of schools within the state received the recognition this year, according to a .听听
Districts set themselves apart by showing meaningful improvement within the Washington School Improvement Framework, having one or more student groups make the largest gains in the state across multiple factors or having the highest-performing students in the state.
Distinctions were made by the Washington State Board of Education's Washington School Recognition Program, in partnership with聽the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction and the Educational Opportunity Gap Oversight and Accountability Committee.

Yakima
Ridgeview Elementary and Washington Middle School were recognized for closing targeted gaps.聽
Washington Middle School, Adams, Gilbert and Barge-Lincoln were recognized for growth in one or more racial or ethnic groups.

White Swan High School was recognized for closing graduation gaps. The high school made big changes to improve graduation rates and keep ninth-grade students on track.聽
