Two people plan to run for the state House seat now held by Rep.聽Jeremie Dufault.

Yakima City Council member聽Reedy Berg and Chase Foster of Zillah plan to seek the 15th District Position 2 seat.

Dufault is running for state Senate. He endorsed Berg, a Republican who announced his run on Wednesday.

鈥淚 am very excited to serve my community in a different way,鈥 Berg said in a statement. "I am also glad to be endorsed by Rep. Dufault and look forward to being part of the 15th District team.鈥

Berg attended Eisenhower High School and Gonzaga University and holds a master's degree in education. He teaches middle school history and civics in Toppenish.聽

Berg has served on the Yakima City Council since January 2025.聽

Foster is currently chair of the Kennewick Housing Authority and has worked for the American Red Cross and the city of Hermiston. He has a master's in public administration from Eastern Washington University.聽He filed paperwork to run as a Republican, according to the Washington Public Disclosure Commission.聽He聽previously ran against聽state Rep. Chris Corry, with no preferred party.

"From struggling schools to a constant cycle of deficits and tax increases, our state is becoming more difficult for families everywhere," Foster said in an email. "I want our children to get the best public education possible, to have career opportunities, and to someday want to call Washington their home as well."

The 15th Legislative District covers northern Yakima County including West Valley, along with Moxee, Zillah, Selah and parts of Benton County, including Prosser.

Former Yakima City Council candidate Amy Forrest filed paperwork with the WPDC as a Democrat, but said Thursday she was not running.聽

Candidate filing runs from May 4-8.
