The Yakima Republican Women鈥檚 Club will host a forum for Republican 4th Congressional District candidates on July 16.

The 4th District includes Yakima, Douglas, Okanogan, Grant, Benton and Klickitat counties and portions of Adams and Franklin counties.

Nearly a dozen candidates are running to represent the area after longtime Republican Congressman Dan Newhouse announced he would not be running for reelection last year. The primary election is Aug. 4, with a voting period beginning July 17.

Candidates slated to attend are Yakima County Commissioner Amanda McKinney, State Sen. Matt Boehnke, Jerrod Sessler, John Hughs and Elpidia Saavedra, an event organizer confirmed.

The event will take place from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Harman Center, 101 N. 65th Ave. in Yakima.
