RICHLAND听鈥� A game-tying two-run home run from Calleigh Sinnes and a winning single by Tatum Trammell lifted No. 14 West Valley to its first state victory since 2019, but a late-night loss halted the Rams' postseason run听on Friday at the Columbia Playfields.

West Valley opened its first Class 4A state trip since 2022 with a 4-0 opening-round loss to No. 3 Issaquah, but recovered for a season-extending 4-3 eight-inning win over No. 11 Skyview thanks to Sinnes and Trammell. Needing another win late Friday night to live another day, West Valley fell to No. 9 Tahoma 7-0.

CBBN听MVP Ainsley Johnson was in the circle for all three games and faced a formidable test in the opener against the Eagles. Montana signee Riley Baumann homered in the first inning before Notre Dame-bound Shaelyn Erickson struck out nine over five shutout innings on the mound.

The senior Ram was excellent in the win over the Storm, pitching all eight innings and striking out eight, allowing Sinnes to deliver the tying homer in the seventh and Trammell to notch the winning run in the eighth.听

Johnson made it through into the fifth inning in her third game of the day before giving way to Madisen Statler. Tahoma's Alexa Ramirez went the distance, striking out 10 and allowing two hits 鈥� including a Sinnes double.

West Valley (20-7) will need to replace four-year starters in Johnson, Statler and Danika Gaethle, as well as long-tenured varsity contributors Claire Saxton-Garza and Taryn Bernd next season.
