SPOKANE, Wash. 鈥 Holding their second straight opponent under 20-percent shooting, Sunnyside Christian鈥檚 girls ran off with a 45-26 victory over Mount Vernon Christian to earn fourth place in the Class 1B state tournament Saturday at Spokane Arena.
The Knights didn鈥檛 mind Friday鈥檚 9 a.m. loser-out tipoff in a win over Selkirk and they certainly didn鈥檛 mind Saturday鈥檚 8 a.m. start as SC took home a trophy for the fifth consecutive year.
Sydney Banks and Krista Den Hoed scored 10 points apiece and Den Hoed added five steals for the winners, who led 26-10 at halftime.
MVC, which connected on just 8 of 50 shots, earned a sixth-place trophy.
Jenna Andringa and Sophia Halma combined for 17 rebounds for the Knights, won won three of four games in Spokane and finished 22-6.
