A fire that started south of Toppenish on Sunday continues to grow.
The Tule Fire was 24,180 acres and 0% contained as of Tuesday morning, according to the . It was reported at 12:50 p.m. on Sunday. It has been burning on range land, and no evacuation orders have been issued.
The cause has not been determined.
A stretch of Highway 97 between Toppenish and Goldendale was closed Sunday evening into Monday morning due to the fire. It reopened 10:30 a.m. Monday morning, said Summer Derrey, WSDOT spokesperson.
Yakama Nation Fire Management is the lead agency responding to the fire.
A is in effect in the region for critical fire weather conditions Tuesday and Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service. Wind and low humidity will combine with dry fuels, resulting in potential for wildfire spread. Outdoor burning is not recommended.
