A Union Gap man died and a Kennewick woman was injured in a single-car crash on Interstate 82 near Grandview early Sunday morning.
The Washington State Patrol reported that a 2006 Infiniti G35 driven by Miguel D. Britt, 23, was westbound on I-82 at milepost 73 at 1:22 a.m.
Police reported that the car was traveling at a high rate of speed and left the roadway. Britt and his passenger, Nicole S. Wheeler, 21, were transported to Kadlec Regional Medical Center, where Britt was pronounced dead.
The extent of Wheeler's injuries were not available.
Washington State Department of Transportation officials said westbound I-82 was closed for about one hour Sunday morning due to the accident. Both occupants of the vehicle were wearing seatbelts, WSP reported, and the cause of the crash was listed as driving too fast for conditions.
