YAKIMA, Wash. - A Yakima County sheriff's officer said two teenage boys who found themselves stranded on an island in the Yakima River were rescued by the county's swift water rescue team.

Sgt. Ed Levesque said Monday night that the boys, ages 15 and 16, had been fishing on the river in a small raft. The raft was forced up on the island by the current and got punctured in the process.

The sheriff's office received a report about the boys' plight Monday evening.

The sergeant said the boys were not hurt. Neither was wearing a life jacket.
